About WhatIsWiki

Why we exist

Search “what is [anything]” and you’ll usually get one of two things: a dense encyclopedia page written for people who already understand the topic, or a thin blog post stretched around ads. WhatIsWiki exists to be the third option — a place that answers the actual question, in plain language, with the facts you need and nothing you don’t.

What we cover

  • Events & conferences — dates, venues, what to expect, who it’s for
  • Government schemes & policy — what a scheme actually offers, who qualifies, and current deadlines
  • Technology & business terms — definitions without the jargon
  • Trending topics — explained as they happen, not weeks later

How we work

Every explainer follows the same process: research from primary sources (official notifications, event organizers, original reporting), a plain-language draft, and an editorial check before publishing. Full detail on that process is on our Editorial Policy page.

Where we might be wrong

Schemes change. Deadlines move. Event details get updated by organizers after we publish. We date every article and revisit it when something changes — but if you spot something outdated or incorrect, please tell us. We’d rather fix it than leave it wrong.
